I’m Christy, a Director of Photography, First AC, and Camera Operator located in Los Angeles. I was born and raised in Walnut Creek, California where I first grew a passion for photography. After working as a PA on a feature film in my senior year of high school, I discovered a love for filmmaking. From there I attended Santa Barbara City College receiving two associate degrees in Film Production and Liberal Arts and Humanities. My love for film grew in my time there, and pushed me to make the move to Los Angeles to further pursue my career and love for the craft.
Where The Sand Meets The Sea
My journey as a filmmaker is encapsulated in my first film, Where The Sand Meets The Sea. As the writer, director, director of photography, editor, and colorist of this film, I pushed myself as a filmmaker in all aspects to tell a story of familial love and sacrifice, set in a post apocalyptic desert wasteland.
Soft Premieres
The SBCC Film awards cut took home Best Editing and Best Cinematography to myself, as well as an outstanding achievement award. The SBCC Film Awards is a highly anticipated end of the year celebration, where SBCC Film Students get a chance to present their work, and gather awards given by their professors. I was able to take home the “Best Editing”, “Best Cinematography”, and “Outstanding achievement awards for my directoral debute film.
Following that, at UCSB’s Reel Loud, a 7-minute no dialogue cut was premiered alongside an original score composed by Diego Ratto live with our musicians. Diego won “Best Music”, and our lead took home “Best Actor.” Overall - the film won the Scott Wells Golden Reel Award as well!
